FAQ’s:
For purposes of the State of Hawaii, what is a precinct?
House District?
Senate District?

A precinct is a smaller section within its respective house district. It is typically the size of a neighborhood but precinct lines are subject to legislative redistricting which means that the boundaries do not necessarily follow an even block.

A House District is larger then a precinct and in fact includes anywhere from 5-15 precincts within its boundaries.
Each House District in Hawaii has a population of approximately 23,000.
In the Hawaii State House of Representatives there are 51 House Districts, each represented by its respective State Representative.
A Senate District is larger then a House District and includes many House Districts within its boundaries. A Senate District has a population of approximately 46,000.
In the Hawaii State Senate there are 25 Senate Districts, each represented by its respective State Senator.

Precinct line descriptions for each house district as well as maps of House District, Senate District and City Council District lines can be found on the State of Hawaii Office of Elections Website at www.hawaii.gov/elections.
